PC Updates Xbox

Metro Redux has a free next-generation update for Xbox Series X|S, covering both Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux. The October 29 announcement brings new performance modes, visual changes, and controller support to the two existing games.

Metro Redux performance modes: 4K/60fps or upscaled 4K/120fps

4A Games lists two graphics options for the Xbox update. The distinction is between native 4K rendering at 60 frames per second and an upscaled 4K presentation targeting 120fps.

Mode Resolution Frame rate
Native 4K True 4K 60fps
High frame rate Upscaled 4K 120fps

The publisher specifies that the 120fps option needs compatible TV or monitor hardware. That makes display support an important detail to check before choosing that mode.

What else changes in the Xbox update?

The upgrade includes revised textures, lighting, shadows, environmental detail, and animations. Xbox-specific additions include 4A TSR upscaling and antialiasing, Impulse Trigger feedback, Xbox Play Anywhere, and optimization for Xbox Ally and Ally X.

Who gets the Metro Redux upgrade for free?

Players who already own either Redux game are eligible for its upgrade at no extra charge, according to PLAION’s launch announcement. The release also confirms a PS5 launch and says the PC update is already available through Steam, the Windows Store, Epic Games Store, and GOG.

For players deciding whether to return, the key distinction is that these are technical upgrades to the existing Redux games. The announcement concerns how those games run and look, rather than a newly announced campaign.
