Age of Empires IV has expanded its roster with Raiders of the North. Released on October 29, the expansion brings the Vikings and Scots to the strategy game. It is available through Steam and the Microsoft Store, as well as on Xbox and PlayStation 5.

Four Crucible missions for solo or co-op play

The expansion includes four exclusive Crucible missions. Each supports solo play or a two-player team, making the new missions an option for a shared session rather than only another competitive matchup. Progression includes boons and talents, while weekly mutators introduce changing conditions. The publisher lists 25 mutators, giving players a concrete sense of the system's range.

Separate the expansion from the wider update

Scottish Heathland and Tundra Summer are the two new biomes highlighted for Raiders of the North. The announcement also discusses a broader Crucible rework. That surrounding update should not be confused with ownership of the expansion: the new civilizations and its four exclusive missions are expansion content, not a promise that the entire DLC is free.
